0:01 [Music] 0:16 Hi everybody. Welcome to the cyber 0:18 security and digital safety webinar. My 0:20 name is Ana. 0:24 Okay. 0:26 So before we get started, I just want to 0:27 give a little speaker introduction on 0:29 who I am. So my name is Anya. I'm a 0:31 junior at South Verside High School um 0:34 in coming Georgia with a strong passion 0:36 for STEM. So a little bit about me is 0:38 that I lead my school's hat club and I 0:40 run a nonprofit tutoring academy called 0:42 Inspire Academy. And it's really cool 0:44 really cool because I get to teach 0:46 students coding skills and STEM skills 0:48 like um Python, HTML and CSS, 0:52 JavaScript, and so many other skills. I 0:54 also teach like math and science and ELA 0:57 and I think it's just really nice and 0:58 I'm just super excited to help make tech 1:01 more fun and engaging for all of you 1:02 guys today. 1:05 So, why does digital safety matter to 1:07 teens? So, I think this is a very um 1:09 important issue and I want to touch on 1:10 this. So, teens are more online than 1:12 ever before now. um with online school, 1:16 shopping, social media, gaming, 1:19 searching for internships, um colleges, 1:22 college applications, job applications. 1:24 So, a single mistake in the digital 1:26 world like oversharing your information 1:28 or setting weak passwords can really 1:30 lead to serious problems like people 1:32 stealing your identity, having your 1:34 accounts hacked, and even harming your 1:36 reputation. So I think that staying 1:38 online in the online staying safe in the 1:40 online world is very crucial to protect 1:42 your privacy, your future and your 1:44 mental state. 1:46 So a fun fact is that every 39 seconds 1:49 there is a cyber attack. And I think if 1:51 you just think about that, that's very 1:53 crazy. Like every like 40 every 39 1:55 seconds someone is getting hacked or 1:57 they're going under a cyber attack. And 1:59 um another fun fact is a quote from Aba 2:02 Chit Nascar and it says no internet 2:04 connected technology is truly unhackable 2:07 and I think that's like really crazy 2:10 because like we sometimes we look at 2:12 technology and we're like oh there's no 2:13 way this can be hacked but like no like 2:15 no um I just want you to remember that 2:17 everything you post on the internet is 2:19 permanent. So whenever you're about to 2:21 post something if you think like oh 2:22 maybe I'm posting it like on a private 2:24 account or I'll just put it on YouTube 2:25 for a few hours and take it down like 2:27 no. Everything you post is permanent and 2:29 it adds to your digital footprint. So 2:31 please be careful. 2:33 So before so now let's talk about what 2:35 cyber security is. So what is cyber 2:37 security? Cyber security is the practice 2:40 of protecting your digital information, 2:42 your devices and your computer systems 2:43 from malicious online attacks and 2:45 hackers. So it's about staying safe 2:47 online every day in the digital world. 2:49 So some ways that we stay safe like on 2:51 the daily is we have account login, we 2:53 have p we have usernames and passwords. 2:55 We have something called MFA which is 2:57 multiffactor authentica authentication 3:00 and that's basically just multiple 3:01 factors we use to protect our login. So 3:04 when you're logging into an account 3:05 other than just entering your username 3:07 and password in you also enter in like 3:10 um other things like for example a 3:12 security question or touch ID or maybe 3:14 it'll send a text to your phone or a 3:17 like a link to your Gmail for you to log 3:19 in. We also try to use strong passwords 3:21 as much as possible and so much more. 3:24 Um, so your digital footprint. So your 3:26 digital footprint is your permanent 3:28 trail that's left behind when you use 3:29 the internet and your devices. So this 3:32 is what I was talking about a few 3:33 minutes ago. If you think that something 3:34 on the internet that you post isn't 3:36 permanent, that's not true because 3:38 whenever you're using any online um 3:41 whenever you're like doing any online 3:43 activity or you're connected to the 3:44 internet, you're leaving a trail of data 3:46 behind and that trail is what is your 3:48 digital footprint. 3:51 So here are some common online risks. So 3:55 some common online risks are fishing is 3:57 a very common online risk. And this is
