Hi everyone! This week we went into Laguna Middle School's 4-6th STEAM periods and supported students in testing as well as refining their robotics project. Students learned about gear ratios and have been working on creating robotic cars with the most optimized ratio. Cars must have mechanical advantage, precise motor control, and can move with adequate speed.
Table groups competed against each other to dodge obstacles and have the lowest overall time to complete a given "racecourse". All of this is in preparation of a inter school competition within their school district. Volunteers also were able to get feedback from Mr. Bommer, students' STEAM teacher, regarding finalized curriculum/worksheets for our own projects tentatively beginning November 9th.
Check out these cool clips of students' hard work!
