Hey Cougars! On Friday, we did a special lesson in honor of Earth Day, which happens annually on April 22nd. We started off by discussing the term eco-friendly, and its implications in our daily lives. We then briefly discussed a prominent figure in our world, Greta Thunberg, who is pushing for change to combat the ever increasing climate change crisis. Next, we moved on to a challenging topic, the ozone layer crisis. Despite the complexities and chemical reactions involved, the kids were quick to pick up on the key ideas, and connect it to the topic of global warming! We finished off with a fun activity where we challenged the kids to create a creative solution to one of the numerous problems we discussed. We wanted to emphasize how making small changes in our lives can create big differences, and how we need to work together as a community to respect and nurture our planet, and avoid the potential disastrous consequences of climate change. For Homework: Show your love to Earth! Do one or more eco-friendly activities to help better our environment! Connect how your action helps improve global environmental problems we face today! :) Challenge: Take a sneak peek into our next lesson, write small jot dots from your knowledge about probability. Do not worry if you do not understand, we will discuss it next time :)
