Hey Hawks! This week, we created bridges and learned about the engineering process! We started by learning a few types of bridges and exploring the strength of squares vs triangles - triangles are stronger! Then, we learned about the situation of the bridge and what constraints there were. The only materials allowed were straws and tape, and the bridge had to support a cup for a strength test. To create the bridges, students worked in groups of 3-4 for collaboration. We started with designing the bridge on paper and then supplies were passed out. They were really creative with their designs, and each group created a unique bridge. Finally, to end, we had a contest of which bridge could hold the most amount of Hershey Kisses!
