Redmond Weekly Review (4/24/25)

Hey Hawks! This week, we explored genetics and what makes you, you! We began by learning about genes and alleles, along with the differences between dominant and recessive traits. Then, we learned about Punnett Squares and how they are used to predict how traits are inherited. Finally, we ended with an activity: creating our own species! Each person received a unique chart with 5 traits and the parent genes. Using Punnett Squares and a random number generator, they determined which traits their new child species had. After that, they drew out their new species, and we had a contest for the most creative, scary, and cute species! They all had a lot of fun determining the traits of their new species and asked a lot of great questions!
