Hey Wildcats! Today, rather than our usual weekly meeting, we went to a school event called STEM Night! For two hours, students and parents visited various STEM-related booths around campus to learn about and partake in science. As Engineering Club, we also had a booth that contained 3 different activities: using a diy claw machine, making rubber band helicopters, and making ping pong ball launchers. The latter two were sit-down activities where students and parents received step-by-step instructions on how to engineer unique designs that they could take home. The claw machine, on the other hand, was built by us beforehand and served as a fast game where participants would collect as many objects as they could, as fast as possible, for a prize. Overall, turnout was great, and we were happy to see many familiar faces that frequent Engineering Club, in addition to many new faces. Furthermore, we were really impressed with some designs, with the distances of certain ping pong ball launchers and helicopters surpassing even our own tests. This was certainly a great event and we can’t wait for our final experiment on Monday!
